Spencer County is one of my family's favorite driving vacations. It's not too far from our Michigan home and it has so much to offer all of us. For my children, there's Holiday World and Splashin' Safari for days of amusement park fun and Buffalo Run Farm to see the buffalo, eat ice cream and even try a buffalo burger as well as a chance to view the cabin where Abraham Lincoln once stayed. For my husband, besides the chance to play golf, there's the Lincoln State Park and Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, wonderful sites that highlight the 14 years that Lincoln spent in this area. I like to wander the country roads, visiting such historical sites as the Colonel William Jones State Historic Site, a restored 1834 Federal mansion (Lincoln spent the night he gave a speech for presidential candidate Henry Clay in 1844) and St. Meinrad, a gothic style monastery which is only one of two archabbeys in the United States and open to tours. And, of course, when we're visiting, staying at Santa's Lodge and eating breakfast at Windells are musts.

THANK YOU for such a quick reply...I hadn't even logged out of my account yet! There is no need to send me a Buffalo Run brochure; you gave me plenty of info. I know my boys would love to see the buffalo, and my husband would like to try a buffalo burger!

Thank you so very much for the hospitality we received while visiting Spencer County. We saw some interesting sites and had several delicious meals. If all goes as planned I will contact your office early next year to set up my trip to your area.

Just wanted to let you know we had a WONDERFUL time in Santa Claus this weekend. What a treat! We will definitely be back and we will be bringing lots of family and friends. Thanks for your help!
We started our trip at the Post Office and mailed all our holiday cards then ate at the pizza place there in Holiday Plaza. We did go to Holiday Horseback and my 1 year old got to ride a Clydesdale (talk about exciting)! My other 2 enjoyed the horseback riding also.
We loved cookies and milk with Santa at Santa's Lodge and loved breakfast the next day with Santa.
I have told all my friends and we plan on making Santa Claus a tradition and can't wait until Nov. 1 when we can make reservations for next year's festival.
Can't wait till next year!

Spencer County is a gem! Wonderful attractions like Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Buffalo Run, the young Abe Lincoln boyhood sites and outdoor drama, Dr. Ted's Musical Marvels, Saint Meinrad and many more have kept us returning time after time. The variety of things to do and the friendly folks make this a perfect vacation destination. Hoosier hospitality is alive and well in Spencer County. When we leave, we know we'll be back again soon!
