November 11, 2009 (Santa Claus, Ind.) - The Santa Claus Christmas Celebration committee is looking for local elementary students to represent each state on America’s Hometown Christmas Tree. The newly expanded five-weekend Christmas Celebration, November 20 through December 20, 2009, will host a tree lighting ceremony every week.
“The Santa Claus Christmas Celebration is shaping up to be a spectacular 5-weekend event,” says co-chairperson of the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration, Kevin Klosowski. “This state ornament program provides a wonderful opportunity for local children to become an integral part of the tree lighting ceremonies that kick off our Celebration each weekend.”
In order to represent hometowns across the nation, local children may sign up to create an ornament at home to add to the tree for the duration of the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration. Ten children will hang their homemade ornaments on the tree every Friday evening and share their special reason for representing the given state. By making an ornament, the selected children will represent the state in their own eyes, making each ornament special and symbolic to hometowns everywhere.
Every Friday evening during the Christmas Celebration, visitors will gather around America’s Hometown Christmas Tree for the official lighting ceremony at 8pm CDT. There will be holiday entertainment by local groups and soloists. Some evenings will be emceed by local TV personalities to include Mike Blake from WFIE and Lauren Matter from Fox 7. This event will follow the traditional Pre-Christmas Dinner at Santa’s Lodge and carols with Santa Claus to spread the Christmas spirit.
To participate by creating an ornament and representing a state for America’s Hometown Christmas Tree, the parent or guardian of the interested child should email the following information to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
